This is a pretty good chili recipe.
1.5 lb. red kidney beansSoak and cook the beans according to the package. If you're using a ready-to-use hamburger substitute, sautee the onions and peppers until softened, then add the burger. If you're using Gimme Lean (our favorite) or some other kind that needs to be cooked, brown that in vegetable oil, then add the onions and peppers and sautee until softened. Add this mixture, and all the other ingredients, to the beans, adding water as needed. Simmer, again adding water as needed, until desired consistency is achieved. I can't remember of the top of my head how long I usually cook this, but I like tender beans, so I would think it's at least an hour. Keep checking and adding water so it doesn't dry out and burn.
